SC jail officer accused of having over 1,200 grams of marijuana with plans to distribute

The South Carolina Department of Corrections released an arrest warrant for an officer accused of providing synthetic marijuana to prisoners.

Mary Louise McElveen, 59, was fired from her job at Lee Correctional Institution following her arrest.

According to the warrant, she was carrying 1,266 grams of synthetic marijuana at the time of arrest.

McElveen is charged with possession with intent to distribute, providing contraband to a prisoner and misconduct in office.
