Runtz is an uncommon strain with an uncommon taste. You’ll recognize the candy-like flavor that gave it its name; however, it also features solid THC levels, with percentages ranging from 18% to a sky-high 29%. As a hybrid strain, Runtz provides the best of both worlds with both a euphoric head high and a bone-deep body buzz.

users appreciate the Runtz OG strain, too. The body buzz helps stimulate
relaxation and offers an escape from the pain of daily life. Chronic stress and
anxiety also melt away, allowing sufferers to escape from their worries for a
while. After the strain has kept users high for hours, it winds down into a
sweet, dreamy sleep.
There are several Runtz phenotypes out there, but the indica/sativa blend is usually within the 40/60 range in either direction. The most common is an even 50/50 split between the two. The Runtz strain origin is a cross between Zkittlez and Gelato (although some say these are the genetics of the Pink Runtz strain).

Effects

The effects of the Runtz strain happen almost immediately. Even as the candy aftertaste is wearing off, the intense, euphoric head high starts coming on. Within minutes of the first toke, most users report euphoric, giggling feelings of joy. It’s a creative high, but not quite enough that you’ll want to leave the house. This head high can last for hours, so have craft activities or movies prepared in advance.
The body
high kicks in about fifteen minutes after the head high. It usually starts in
the back of the head and melts down the spine, before expanding to the limbs
and leaving fingers tingling. It’s an excellent strain for evening use. Once
the body high hits, you’ll likely find yourself sitting in one place, thinking
creative thoughts, or watching your favorite movies.
Fragrance
If you’ve opened up a container of candy Runtz and gotten a puff of sugar to the face, you have a solid understanding of the cannabis strain’s scent. It’s sweet, fruity, and mild, just like candy.
Flavors
The flavor
is just like the smell, sweet, fruity, and a little creamy. The aftertaste is
particularly sugary. You might notice a hint of berry in particular with the
Pink Runtz strain.
Adverse reactions
The most
common side effects of Runtz use are dry eyes and mouth. However, because of
the intense THC level in this strain, users who dive in too quickly
occasionally report anxiety or paranoia from use. These symptoms coincide with
users underestimating Runtz. Pacing dosage and not taking too much of the
candy-flavored kush at once can help mitigate these side effects and keep
everything cool.
Medical

Like many
strains with a serious body high, those using the strain therapeutically have
great things to say about Runtz. First and foremost, it’s pain-relieving
properties help reduce chronic pain to the point where it’s unnoticeable.
Everything from headaches to minor aches and pains simply disappears as the
tingly body buzz hits. It also helps relax muscles and reduce inflammation,
which is helpful for arthritis, chronic stress, and injuries.

Need to
eat? Runtz can overcome almost any person’s loss of appetite, helping with
nausea and side effects due to chemo. Insomnia sufferers can also find relief
from this strain, as the indica begin to take over. Most people find that their
dreams are truly sweet after spending an evening with Runtz.
On the
mental side of things, the euphoric, uplifting high is a perfect escape from
stress. Anxiety sufferers notice their worries floating away as the relaxed,
happy buzz fills their thoughts instead. Even depression sufferers find that
Runtz can help them with their battle.
Growing
If someone gets their hands on some Runtz seeds, then they’re in luck. This strain is remarkably hardy and easy to grow. As long as the grower is prepared for some large plants, even a moderate Runtz strain grow can provide plenty of beautiful kush.
The sativa genetics are obvious when starting your Runtz strain grow. It’s an aggressive upwards grower that doesn’t naturally branch off. For growers interested in training it to grow out instead of up, it reacts well to high-stress training techniques. In this case, the Screen of Green growing technique can help gardeners make the most of their Runtz plants.
To help
Runtz plants thrive, be ready to fertilize and water. Runtz plants grow
quickly, meaning they’ll need more nutrients than compact varieties. In
particular, don’t be afraid to supplement extra nitrogen. Just keep an eye on
the leaves to make sure they aren’t suffering from nutrient burn.
Flowering Time
Indoors
Runtz handles indoor growing well. Look for plants to be ready for harvest in 7-9 weeks on average. When growing inside, the Runtz strain produces 14-16 ounces of quality bud per square meter, depending on training techniques.
Outdoors
When
growing Runtz outside, growers can expect their harvest to be ready by
mid-October in the northern hemisphere. In quality conditions, each Runtz plant
can produce up to 18 ounces of bud.
