Hot Dank Tottie
A Hot Tottie is a traditional winter time alcoholic drink. Having said to have health benefits of fighting colds and improving health it is full of honey and ginger, both known to help fight colds.
- 4 cups Water
- 3oz Ginger (peeled and thinly sliced & chopped)
- 1/2 cup Honey (Heaping cup)
- 1 stick Cinnamon
- 12 Whole Cloves
- 3 Lemons (Juiced, makes about 1 Cup lemon juice)
- 2 cups Green Dragon
There are two ways you can add the green dragon. The first is you can add the green dragon to your mug and then add the hot Hot Tootie mixture. This way you are not directly having the green dragon on the stove so you don’t have to worry about burning off the alcohol in the green dragon. If you do this way then about 2 ounces of green dragon for every 4 ounces of Hot Tottie mixture. The second method is what I listed in the recipe of adding the green dragon and letting it sit in spices so the flavors can permeate the entire drink.
|Heat water to a simmer over medium-high heat.
|Add ginger and simmer for 10 minutes
|Whisk in honey. Once honey is dissolved in add the cinnamon, cloves, and lemon juice. Simmer for 10 more minutes.
|Remove from heat and whisk in the green dragon. Allow to sit so the flavors can permeate the entire drink. About 30 minutes.
|Strain the mixture and reheat what you want to drink on low on your stove top.
|Jar and store what you don’t drink in the refrigerator. Add a cinnamon stick and cloves to make the flavors more bold.
